How to get started using Fresh KDS with Clover

Before you begin, you'll need the following: ย 

  • Fresh KDS Account.โ€
  • Strong Wi-Fi Connection.
  • Assigned Static IP address for your tablet (Strongly Recommended)
    A Static IP address will prevent your tablet's IP address from changing. If your IP address changes, your Point of Sale could disconnect from Fresh KDS.
*Note: Fresh KDS will not work if you use your Clover device as a hotspot.

Step 1: Download the Fresh KDS App.

1. Download the Fresh KDS App onto your dedicated tablet.

โ€2. Open the Fresh KDS app, and log in using your account credentials.

3. Give your KDS screen a descriptive name. E.g. Espresso, Salad Bar, or ToGo.

4. Select โ€˜Cloverโ€™ as your POS system.

โ€Step 2: Configure Fresh KDS as an Order Printer in Clover.

Before you begin, ensure your Fresh KDS tablet and Clover device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

1. From your Clover device, open the 'Printers' app.

2. Tap the green 'Plus' (+) icon at the bottom right of the screen.

3. Select 'Add Order Printer.'

4. Fresh KDS will be listed as a Star SP700 printer; Tap to select this printer.

5. Enter a new Printer Name.

6. Assign Labels to Auto-Print.

  • Items assigned to the selected label group will send to your KDS.
  • To manage or create new labels, navigate to Inventory - Labels from your Clover device.

7. Tap 'Print Test Receipt' to verify the printer connection.

8. Tap 'Save' to complete the printer setup.

*Note: Follow these configuration steps on each Clover device that sends orders to your kitchen.

Step 3: Confirm Order Receipt Options in Clover.

1. From your Clover device, open the โ€˜Setupโ€™ app.

2. Tap โ€˜Order Receiptsโ€™ on the left navigation bar

3. Tap โ€œHow will order receipts be printed in the Register?โ€

4. Under Auto printing, select from the following options:

  • All items: Sends all items to Fresh KDS
  • Only items with printer labels: Sends only items with labels assigned to printers in Clover. *Optional: You can also select: Manually print an item with no labels to send items that are not traditionally sent to the order printer after you select Pay.โ€

5. Under When to print, select from the following options:

  • When Pay or Save is tapped: Orders are sent to Fresh KDS when the server taps the Pay or Save button; the customer can pay either right away or later.
  • When Pay is tapped: Orders are sent to Fresh KDS when the Pay button is tapped; the customer pays right away.
  • When Save is tapped: Orders are sent to Fresh KDS when the Save button is tapped; the customer pays later.
  • When customer receipts are printed: Orders are sent to Fresh KDS only when the customer receives a printed receipt.

6. Tap Save.

Step 4: Place your Fresh KDS tablet in the kitchen.

1. Choose where to place your Fresh KDS screen.

  • Some place it right above a prep station.
  • Others find that mounting it on a nearby wall with a waterproof case is best.

2. If using multiple screens, be sure the name matches the station placement.

Step 5: Train your staff & profit! ๐Ÿ’ธ

1. Show how to mark items as complete & how to clear tickets.

  • Tap to cross out items as complete.
  • Tap the ticket header to clear and remove it from the screen.

2. Show how to recall orders.

  • Tap the recall button located on the left navigation bar.
