How to get started using Fresh KDS with RDY

Before you begin, you'll need the following:  

  • Fresh KDS Account.
  • Strong Wi-Fi Connection.
  • Assigned Static IP address for your tablet (Strongly Recommended)
    A Static IP address will prevent your tablet's IP address from changing. If your IP address changes, your Point of Sale could disconnect from Fresh KDS.
*Note: Fresh KDS will not work if you use your RDY device as a hotspot.

Step 1: Download the Fresh KDS App.

1. Download the Fresh KDS App onto your dedicated tablet.

2. Open the Fresh KDS app, and log in using your account credentials.

3. Give your KDS screen a descriptive name. E.g. Espresso, Salad Bar, or ToGo.

4. Select ‘RDY’ as your POS system.

Step 2: Create the Integration Token

To start, log into your Fresh Dashboard and select Settings - Integration Tokens.

1. Click ‘+Create Token.’

2. Enter ‘RDY’ as the Token Description, and click '+Create Token.'

3. Copy and note the generated token value to use in the below step.

Step 3: Add Fresh KDS as an Integration in RDY

1. Launch the RDY Cafe App on your RDY device.

2. From Partners, navigate to Merchant - Merchant Details - Devices.

3. Under KDS Integrations, click ‘Add Integration.’

4. Under Access Key, paste the generated token value as noted in step 2, and select ‘Fresh KDS’ as the Integration App from the drop-down menu.  

5. If the Access Key is valid, a list of Fresh KDS locations associated with the key will appear; Click ‘Add’ next to the appropriate location(s) to configure with RDY.

6. Once added, tap ‘Send Test Order’ to verify the Access Key and Location are configured.  

7. If a test order appears, send a separate test order from the RDY merchant to verify the integration was successful.  

*Optional* If using multiple KDS screens, and you wish to route specific product categories to a KDS, you’ll need to sync the devices.

1. From Merchant Details - Devices, click ‘Setup Devices.’

2. Select ‘Sync Devices’ to sync the default configurations on all Fresh KDS devices.

3. Once synced, select the product categories to route to each Fresh KDS device.

4. Click ‘Save’ to complete the setup.

💡 If devices do not appear after clicking ‘Sync Devices,’ refresh the page. If devices still do not appear, no devices are associated with this Fresh KDS location.

Step 4: Place your Fresh KDS tablet in the kitchen.

1. Choose where to place your Fresh KDS screen.

  • Some place it right above a prep station.
  • Others find that mounting it on a nearby wall with a waterproof case is best

2. If using multiple screens, be sure the name matches the station placement.

Step 5: Train your staff & profit! 💸

1. Show how to mark items as complete & how to clear tickets.

  • Tap to cross out items as complete.
  • Tap the ticket header to clear and remove it from the screen.

2. Show how to recall orders.

  • Tap the recall button located on the left navigation bar.
