Fresh KDS has always measured what happens inside the kitchen: when an order came in, which station touched it, how long it sat, whether it went out on time. Until now, that data lived inside Fresh KDS. Starting this month, it doesn't have to.
We're opening a new read-only API that gives enterprise IT teams and technology partners direct, documented access to their own location's kitchen performance data.
What the API exposes
The API is location-scoped, meaning a request only ever returns data for the locations that request has access to. It's built around the same meaningful metrics operators already see inside Fresh KDS: things like on-time performance, station delay, and prep time, not a raw feed of every event the kitchen produces.
That distinction matters. A raw event feed puts the work of turning activity into insight on whoever is pulling the data. This API does that work first, so the numbers coming out the other side already mean something.
Who it's for
Two groups get the most out of this.
Enterprise IT teams managing kitchen technology across many locations can pull kitchen performance data straight into whatever reporting or business intelligence tools they already use, instead of relying on manual exports or someone checking a dashboard by hand.
Technology partners building products for restaurants can bring real, current kitchen performance into their own platform with a documented integration, rather than requesting a one-off connector for every partnership.
Why it matters
The kitchen has historically been the hardest part of a restaurant's operation to see from the outside. The POS shows what was ordered. Front-of-house and guest systems show what customers experienced. Very little of that shows what actually happened at the point of production, whether the kitchen kept the promise made to the guest.
Making that data available through an API means kitchen performance doesn't have to stay locked inside one screen or one dashboard. It can show up wherever an operator, an IT team, or a partner's product already looks.
What's next
This first version is read-only and scoped to a location's own data. It's not a full events pipeline, and it's not a way to write data back into Fresh KDS. That's intentionally out of scope for now.
We'll cover what the API actually supports today, in more technical detail, later this week. If your team manages kitchen technology across multiple locations, or you're building a product that could use real kitchen performance data, request access at fresh.technology/kds/enterprise.
